Privacy Policy

Candidight is designed with privacy in mind. In its current version, the extension does not collect or transmit personal information to external servers.

The information we may handle includes:

• —Job application data you manually enter, such as company names, job titles, application statuses, and notes. This data is stored locally on your device.
• —Browser storage data used to persist your job tracking information between sessions.

In future versions, we may introduce features that collect additional information, such as your name, email address, or account credentials, if you choose to create an account or use cloud sync features. We will update this policy before doing so.

Any information stored by Candidight is used solely to provide the core functionality of the extension — helping you track and organize your job applications.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. In future versions, we may use your information to:

• —Sync your data across devices via cloud services
• —Send product updates or support communications if you opt in
• —Improve the extension based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns
• —Process payments if subscription features are introduced

The current version of Candidight stores all job tracking data locally on your device using standard browser storage APIs (such as chrome.storage.local). This means:

• —Your data stays on your device and is not transmitted to any server
• —Uninstalling the extension will remove locally stored data
• —Data is not shared between different devices or browsers

In future versions, we may offer optional cloud sync to allow your data to persist across devices. This will be opt-in, and we will clearly explain what data is stored and where before you enable it.

We may integrate with third-party services to support future features of Candidight. These may include:

• —Firebase / Google Cloud — for cloud storage, authentication, and backend infrastructure
• —Stripe or similar — for processing subscription payments if premium features are introduced
• —Sendgrid or similar — for transactional email communications

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data. We will identify which services we use and link to their privacy policies when they are integrated. Currently, no third-party data collection services are active in the extension.

We may use analytics tools in future versions to understand how users interact with Candidight. This would help us improve the product. Any analytics we use will be limited to aggregated, non-personally-identifiable information where possible.

We may also display advertising in a future free tier or use advertising networks to support the product. If we do, we will update this policy to describe what data those networks may collect.

We will never sell your personal job application data to advertisers.

Currently, your data is stored locally and remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the extension.

If cloud features are introduced in the future, we will retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You will be able to request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

You have the right to:

• —Access the data associated with your use of Candidight
• —Delete your data at any time — currently by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser storage
• —Request deletion of any cloud-stored data (once available) by contacting us at support@software-sage.com
• —Opt out of any optional data collection or communications

If you are located in the European Union or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively. We are committed to honoring those rights as our product grows.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Currently, all data is stored locally on your device and subject to your device's own security protections.

As we introduce cloud features, we will use industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to support@software-sage.com.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Candidight evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the extension or website. Continued use of Candidight after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
